Silver Hawks to play for spot in league championship Monday

The South Bend Silver Hawks lost out on their chance to clinch a spot in the Midwest League Championship Series Sunday night when the Hawks lost to the Fort Wayne Tincaps 5-2 in Game 2 of the league semifinals.

The good news is that the Hawks will get another shot Monday night when they host Fort Wayne in a decisive game 3. This is winner take all---the winning team will advance to the championship series while the losing team sees its season come to an end.

First pitch is set for 7pm Monday at Four Winds Field at Coveleski Stadium.

Sunday's game remained scoreless until the 6th when Fort Wayne's Hunter Renfroe hit a solo homer off Colin Rea to give the Tincaps a 1-0 lead. It didn't last long. Brandon Drury followed with a homer of his own in the bottom of the 6th to tie the game up at one.

But Fort Wayne would score four runs in the 8th, jump started by a 2-run homer from Gabriel Quintana to seal the win for the Tincaps.
