Silver Hawks shortstop sets 'major' Minor League Baseball record

Silver Hawks shortstop Andrew Velazquez will celebrate his birthday holding a 'major Minor League Record.

One day shy of his 20th birthday, Velazquez singled in the 2nd inning on the road at Fort Wayne Sunday afternoon, allowing him to reach base for the 72nd straight game.

The previous on-base consecutive games record of 71 was held by Kevin Millar and Kevin Youkilis who went on to lead the Red Sox to the World Series Title in 2004.

Velazquez' streak began on April 22nd.

The Bronx, NY native now sets his eyes on the all-time baseball record of 84 straight games set by the legendary Ted Williams.
