Silver Hawks beat Tincaps in front of record crowd in Fort Wayne


Fidel Pena led off the game with a home run and Brandon Sinnery was lights out on the mound as the Silver Hawks ruined the party for the biggest crowd to ever see a baseball game at Fort Wayne's Parkview Field.

The Hawks beat Fort Wayne Wednesday night in South Bend in front of a Coveleski Stadium record crowd of 7,287. The series shifted to Fort Wayne on Thursday with the Silver Hawks winning 6-0 in front of a Tincaps record crowd of 8,780.

Sinnery went the distance, giving up just six hits and no runs in nine innings. He struck out eight batters.

With the victory, the Silver Hawks improve to 54-40. It's the 6th straight victory for South Bend.
