Thursday night the Purdue Coaches Caravan rolled in to Elkhart for a stop at the Lerner Center.
Men's basketball coach Matt Painter, football coach Darrell Hazell, volleyball coach Dave Shondell, along with MIshawaka naitive and basketball coach Sharon Versyp were all on hand.
The coaches signed autographs for fans and alumni before taking part in a dinner inside the Lerner.
For the coaches the event was all about meeting fans in the northern part of the state.
"We try to recruit the state of Indiana the best we can'" Versyp said. "Coming back and seeing alums, coming back seeing my Mishawaka people it is just really exciting. To always give back and pay it forward as I say because everyone around here really helped me be successful so it is nice to come back and thank them."
"Purdue people are great," Head football coach Darrell Hazell added. "There is a lot of them that are up in this area and we love to get up in this Elkhart area where there are so many Purdue people to get them more interested in Purdue football and all Purdue athletics. "
Coach Hazell also talked about how much he is looking forward to Purdue's game against the Irish this fall inside Lucas Oil stadium. He said he expects both schools to be very well represented by their fans for what will be the last meeting between the two schools for a number of years.
