3-Time Bengal Bouts Champ Mike Lee is returning to Notre Dame to "Fight like a Champion" against children's diseases along with the help of former Irish coaching great Ara Parseghian.
Lee, now a professional fighter, will bring pro boxing to Purcell Pavilion on September 16th, the night before the Notre Dame football team faces Michigan State.
Proceeds from the fight will benefit the Ara Parseghian Foundation and the Robinson Community Learning Center in South Bend.
"I knew the charities that I wanted to promote would be kid related," Lee said Tuesday at a press conference at Purcell Pavilion. "Anything I can do with that cause especially with a man like Coach Parseghian who is a legend and a great guy, I was happy to help."
"Life is not complete until you give service to others," Parseghian explains. "You can be successful materialistically but until you help others, the full completion of your life and success will be based on that."
Parseghian says he didn't know much of Lee until he was contacted about the event and getting involved. What he's learned is that Lee is a rising boxing star.
Now 6-0 as a pro, Lee is impressing many---including Ara.
"The shots I saw on the video--he's got some punching power," Ara says with a laugh. "I'm glad I wasn't a victim of those punches."
Lee is a 2009 Notre Dame graduate, earning a finance degree from the Mendoza School of Business while finishing at the top of his class. He was also a Chicago Golden Gloves champion as a senior.
