Penn, St. Joe win softball regional titles

Danielle Watson threw a no-hitter and drive in the game ending runs as the Penn Kingsmen defeated Concord 11-1 in six innings to capture the 4A Softball Regional Championship Tuesday night at Penn.

Watson gave up one unearned run in the 1st inning due to an error but was pretty much lights out from there on out. The freshman struck out 10 batters in the circle. She then drove in the final two runs of the game as Penn won via the 10-run rule.

Penn now heads to the 4A Semi-State on Saturday in Lafayette. They'll face Hamilton Southeastern.
At Newton Park, Kelly Welsh smacked a double in the 2nd and Anna Irons was great from there on out as St. Joe defeated Western 8-2 to capture the 3A Softball Regional Championship.

The Indians also get a little revenge as Western is the team that beat them in the girls basketball regionals.

Other scores:
3A: Leo 3, Wawasee 2
2A: Eastside 2, Bremen 1
1A: Triton 4, South Central 0
