Notre Dame's "Jersey Boys" excited for bowl game at Yankee Stadium

Carlo Calabrese grew up a Yankee fan in nearby Verona, New Jersey and attended plenty of games at the old and new Yankee Stadium.

On December 28th, the senior linebacker will play the last game of his Notre Dame career at Yankee Stadium as the Irish take on Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl.

"It's awesome you know when I'm older and I have kids I can say my last game was right there in Yankee stadium and it's just going to be awesome because all my friends and family are going to be there and it's going to be a great time," Calabrese explains.

Calabrese says he's already received 'thousands of texts' asking for tickets.

This won't be Carlo's first time time playing at Yankee Stadium. He took part in Notre Dame's win over Army there in 2010.

As did, another Jersey Boy--Bennett Jackson. The cornerback and Irish captain will also be playing the final game of his Notre Dame career in his backyard. He says its a great way to go because now many members of his family who never got a chance to come out to Notre Dame will be able to see him play in a game.

"They can drive over and get to experience that game like atmosphere so i really couldn't ask for a better situation," Jackson said.

Then Jackson quickly corrected himself, remembering that clearly he'd prefer to go out with another shot at a national championship.

"I could have asked for a better situation," Jackson said with a smile. "But being that close to home it's just good I can get a lot of my family out to see me."

Both Calabrese and Jackson say it will be fun to be able to showcase New York City to to their teammates. Calabrese said while the trip for the Shamrock Series Game back in 2010 vs Army was great, the team only really got to see the stadium and not the rest of the city. Now, they will be able to tour the town and take in Manhattan at Christmas time, which will be great experience for all the players.
