The Irish sit three weeks away from their season opener against the Temple Owls at Notre Dame Stadium. For some members of the Fighting Irish football team the season feels right around the corner. For others it still feels like it is forever away.
There are the guys like junior running back Amir Carlisle who had to watch most of last season from the sideline due to injury. Forced to sit back and watch as the team marched to a 12-0 regular season and into the BCS. Now that he is back healthy and ready to go the season feels near. Carlisle said "It feels close. With me being out so long, three weeks is really close. I just can't wait to get out there."
On the other hand there are guys like DaVaris Daniels who know that three more weeks of camp with Coach Kelly won't exactly fly by. Daniels knows that two-a-days in the hot August sun can seemingly drag on forever so he isn't looking ahead just yet. "We wish it was closer but it still seems pretty far" adding "It is something that we look forward to but we still have got a ways to go."
Right now the Irish focus is just on continuing to get better day in and day out while keeping the 31st in the back of their minds. They know that when they take the field that Saturday they can put the past behind them and write a new story in the Notre Dame history book.
