Last year didn't go the way head coach Scoot Hoover would have liked it. The Panthers finished 5-6 and lost by just three points to Wawasee in the second round of sectionals. On top of that Northwood lost the border war to Jimtown by a score of 27-0.

Players and coaches haven't forgot about that game. They know week one is always a test. Coach Hoover says he looks forward to it every year.

"Its a good competitive game. You are always going to have two well coached teams that do things the right way. You know its going to be physical but you know its not going to be dirty because you have two programs that respect each other."

Hoover added, "It is such a great measuring stick for finding out what you have at the beginning of the year. You know whether you have a lot of work to do or whether you are going to be off to a good start."

Senior Tanner White may have said it best. "They beat us last year pretty bad so its all about revenge, big time."

The Panthers and the Jimmies square off at Jimtown on August 23.
