Congratulations to the Cougars of New Prairie High School, winner's of the Week 5 16 Spirit Award. New Prairie receives a plaque and check for $100 from Martin's for showing the most school spirit on last week's edition of Friday Night Football.
The Cougars suffered their first loss of the season in a blowout defeat at the hands of Jimtown but players say the spirit within the community is easing the pain from the loss and helping them move forward.
New Prairie, 4-1, has already won more games this season under new head coach Russ Radtke than they did for the entire 2011 season when they finished 3-7.
Cougars quarterback Matt Smith will miss Friday's game at Triton after tearing cartilage in his left knee. Smith will see a specialist on Friday to determine how long he is out.
