That's not something you usually here from a high school athlete.
But for the Mishawaka Cavemen football team, getting another Monday practice has been the big goal for the last month.
Monday, the Cavemen, took part in their final Monday practice of the season as they prepare to face Cathedral in the 4A State Championship game Saturday at 3:30 at Lucas Oil Stadium.
"Last Monday, last Monday," Coach Bart Curtis told his kids. "You worked hard today, you have an extra work day---don't get distracted."
"Nobody else is doing this right now," star senior quarterback Sam Schrader told his teammates as they huddled up. "Cherish it."
"State Champs on 3. 1-2-3. State Champs!" The Cavemen yelled in unison.
"What an honor and privilege to coach these kids and be with these fine men as coaches," Mishawaka coach Bart Curtis explained. "It's just great to be able to get to practice 93."
The Cavemen wrapped up practice with a 'varsity mile' with every single varsity player finishing in no worse than seven minutes and 30 seconds.
"It was our main focus to get another Monday and to come out here every single week of the tourney," senior running back Matt Carver said. "Obviously there isn't another one coming so we'll leave it all on the field Saturday."
