About 700 Michigan basketball fans have thrown an enthusiastic welcome-home party for the Wolverines, who finished the season one game short of a national title.

Coach John Beilein told supporters at Crisler Center on Tuesday that the program took a big move forward this season. The Wolverines lost to Louisville 82-76 in Monday night's NCAA men's championship game.

The Detroit News reports that junior Tim Hardaway Jr. says he agrees with that assessment and says the season is "a stepping stone for what coach Beilein's program is going to be all about."

The Detroit Free Press says Beilein told reporters Michigan is helping four key underclassmen begin looking at their NBA prospects. Besides Hardaway, they are sophomore Trey Burke, and freshmen Mitch McGary and Glenn Robinson III.
