Marian and St. Joe will battle in the Holy War Friday night at 7pm in the first rivalry game at the new Father Bly Field.
Both sides are excited for the new setting after years of the game being played at Marian's Otolski Field.
Marian football coach Reggie Glon who doubles as the Knights Athletic Director joked that he likes the game being played at St. Joe because he doesn't have to worry about setting up and cleaning up before and after the game.
Glon, who is a St. Joe grad, says he's excited for St. Joe and is very happy to See Father Walter Bly get the recognition he deserves with the naming of the field.
Of course, Glon's Knights want to hand the Indians their first ever loss on their new field. Marian quarterback Vince Ravotto says the hype has been building all week on both sides and that he cannot wait until Friday night.
St. Joe shutout Marian 21-0 in last year's sectional playoffs. Marian won the regular season matchup by stopping the Indians on the 5-yard line in the closing seconds.
The Indians don't want to leave things to chance that there will be a post-season meeting. The seniors say they want to go out with a win in what could possibly be their last ever meeting with Marian.
WNDU will be live at Father Bly Field starting on NewsCenter 16 at 5:30 on Friday.
