Manti getting back into the flow

Notre Dame captain and Heisman runner-up Manti Te'o was back in the spotlight Monday with dozens of cameras and reporting surrounding him at Notre Dame's Media Day for the national championship game.

The Irish linebacker says it was nice to get away from the media for a week or so after being in six cities in seven nights last week for various awards shows.

So is he back in the flow or still catching up?

"I'm slowing still catching up," Te'o says. "I wake up at 3 in the morning, 4 in the morning--wide awake. OK where am I? Am I in California, Houston, South Bend, where am I?"

Te'o just wrapped us his last final at Notre Dame and graduates in three and a half years. He says it was nice to get back to just studying, seeing his friends and practicing.

He knows Alabama will be one heck of a challenge come January 7th and is living by the Irish motto, "Unfinished Business."

"We're not done yet," Te'o said. "We're 12-0 and that's great. It's a great accomplishment but 12-0 doesn't mean anything if you lose the last one. No one remembers who is 12-0. They remember who is the national champion."

So what would it mean to win the national championship?

"That's why you play college football--to be a national champion," Te'o explained. "I've been watching that game ever since I was little."

Te'o says he remembers watching Ohio State and Miami battle in a double overtime thriller 10 years ago in the Fiesta Bowl. Ohio State won that game.

"Those were crazy days at my house," Manti continued. "For me to now be playing in one of those games, I really haven't grasped what that would mean to 6-year-old Manti. It would be something big."
