Legendary Michiana basketball coach Dan Gunn is retiring.
Edwardsburg announced Tuesday that Gunn is stepping away from coaching and will retire at the end of the school year from both coaching and teaching. In his final stop at Edwardsburg, Gunn was 60-46 in five seasons. He captured his 500th overall win at the start of this season.
“It has been a pleasure working with coach Gunn over the past five years, he has incredible basketball knowledge and a passion for the game, but more importantly he is great guy to have on staff. I thank him for his contributions to the Eddies basketball program and I think we have a great future because of his work with the program,” says Edwardsburg Athletic Director Kevin Dean.
Gunn ends his 36 year coaching career with a 514-319 record. He won 454 of those games in Indiana. Gunn spent nearly half his career at NorthWood, where he won 239 games over 18 seasons. He still lives in Nappanee. Gunn also coached seven seasons at Penn.
