Kelly says Irish are ready to "battle" for title

With less than a day away until the National Championship Game, everyone is wondering if the Irish can return to glory on Monday night.

The last time Notre Dame played for the title in 1988 they were favored to win it all, and in the 1977 championship year the team was favored midway through the season, but the 2012 squad seems to have come out of nowhere.

Earlier this week Brian Kelly was asked what he thought of his team this season, Kelly responded, “Fighting Irish. Fighting Irish. That's who we are, that's how we've constructed how we want our guys to play. We're going to battle you. First time our back has a chance, he'd better lower his shoulder and run through a tackle. He'd better finish off tackles, play tough and physical. We want that kind of demeanor.”

Kelly is coaching against Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban who has the championship rings to back up his reigning championship team, making Monday’s game certain to be a showdown.
