What a difference a year makes.
Last Thanksgiving, the Irish football team was two days away from facing USC---with a spot in the BCS National Championship Game on the line.
This year--that magical season is not in play.
But that doesn't mean the Irish seniors are any less thankful for what they do have.
"I'm thankful to have this opportunity to play football at the highest level of the game that I love," Irish senior quarterback Tommy Rees says. "To share it with some of my best friends at such a great university."
"I'm just thankful for my family and to come play here," senior linebacker Dan Fox explains. "This is the great university I think in the world and I'm just so blessed to come play football here."
Irish captain and offensive lineman Zack Martin echoes those family statements. He points out how wonderful its been that his parents (from Indianapolis) have been able to make it to every home and road game he's played in over the last two years. He's also thankful for the support of his older brother and the opportunity to play with his younger brother Nick on the Irish.
"And my teammates--I could not really ask for a better group of guys to be with and that's what's going to be the worst part about this season ending is not being able to see these guys every day," Martin says.
The Irish wrap up the regular season Saturday on the road at 8th ranked Stanford.
