A struggling Indianapolis neighborhood that has been transformed by the Super Bowl says it expects to feel the game's legacy for years to come.
The high-poverty area just east of downtown has seen more than 250 homes rebuilt or repaired, new businesses move in and a state-of-the-art community center built as part of a legacy project jump-started by a $1 million NFL grant.
Civic leaders say the Super Bowl was the catalyst that allowed
Indianapolis to become the first host city to complete its legacy project before the game.
Tammi Hughes of the East 10th Street Civic Association says the work is expected to continue this year thanks to a planned development and additional investments of $15 million.
