No one put on a better show at the Blue-Gold Game on Saturday than sophomore quarterback Everett Golson.
However, he also was giving his coach some tense moments on the sideline.
Coach Brian Kelly says, "Exciting electric players, but they are a heart attack for me."
Golson laughed after he heard his coach’s comment. He says, "I have to develop to where he (Coach Kelly) can really trust in me and not give him a heart attack, hopefully."
For now, Golson still has to lean on Kelly greatly. The kid is a playmaker, but sometimes, he does not have the plays down pat.
“He has made it apparent to me that I have the art to be a quarterback. It’s just the scientific part that I have to develop. Sometimes, he's been on the sideline directing me through it a little bit. Like I said, I just have to work on it."
Coach Kelly says, "The quarterback position is the art and science, and bringing both the art and science together. He's very creative. He's got the art part down. It's the science and the consistency to be a championship quarterback."
Golson ends the spring still locked in a four-way battle with Tommy Rees, Andrew Hendrix, and Gunner Kiel for the starting quarterback spot.
