Golson: I will be returning to Notre Dame

For the first time since WNDU broke the news that he was no longer enrolled at Notre Dame, Everett Golson talked on camera about being suspended from the university.

"I will be returning, I look forward to returning in the spring," Golson told Myrtle Beach television station WPDE Saturday at a charity basketball event in his hometown.

Golson will miss the entire 2013 football season after an outstanding rookie season.

Golson led Notre Dame to an undefeated regular season in 2012 and a trip to the BCS National Championship game in January. But just four months later the Irish quarterback was gone from the university. Notre Dame suspended Golson for what he called in a statement at the time, "poor academic judgment."

On Saturday, Golson said he didn't want to discuss specifics as to what happened but he did say the situation wasn't easy.

"Obviously I was hurt but you have to pick yourself back up and surround yourself with a great group of guys," Golson told WPDE. "You surround yourself with good people and it takes care of itself in the end.

"I've been working out and keeping my head up. I had a little adversity of course but I've learned you have to keep going forward and doing what you are doing."

Golson told WBTW he is working out in Chicago, attempting to improve aspects of his game.
