In his first year of being a head coach Josh Ekovich lead Wawasee to a 5-5 record. Now the team has had more time to buy in to his program and learn this system.

"We are really getting more comfortable with everything we run in the offense and the defensive plays," senior quarterback Gage Reinhard said. Also we are a very experienced team with 18 seniors so we have a lot of experience."

That experience plus the amount of time coach Ekovich has had to implement his system has lead him to believe that this team is starting to come together.

"Our biggest thing, we have really focused on this year, is just getting better every day," Ekovich said. "This year, more so than last, I feel like we got better every single day during the first week of camp. I think the kids were still trying to get used to me the first few days."

Ekovich said the first half of last year's game against Concord is when he thinks the team really started to believe in what they were doing and started to turn things around,.

The Warriors open up their season against Whitko on August 22nd. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
