While high school football practice began last week in Indiana, it got underway Monday in the state of Michigan.
The St. Joe Bears return just a handful of starters from a 2013 team that went 9-2.
"We lost a lot of good seniors," head coach Gandalf Church explains.
But make no mistake--the goals are as high as ever.
"We set high expectations," Church says. "Our kids expect that. If we did anything less, they would look at us like we were crazy. We want to win championships. We want the opportunity to win championships. You start with your division. We want to win our division championship and get into the playoffs--and win districts, states. That's what we talk about all the time. We want to contend for championships."
St. Joe opens the season on Thursday August 28th at home against Kalamazoo Central. They'll face arch rival Lakeshore in week four.
