After an undefeated regular season and abrupt loss in the post season the Edwardsburg Eddies are ready to make a run in 2014.
The Eddies return a total of 8 starters with 4 on each side of the ball. With their primary focus on rebuilding the offensive line.
"Last year our strength was our offensive line," head coach Kevin Bartz said. "This year that is kind of the group that we have got to replace right now. In our backfield we have quite a bit of talent. We don't have as much depth, but right now we are in the process of rebuilding linemen."
Coach Bartz said he has also liked what he has seen out of junior quarterback Dante Razzano. Razzano, like his coach, sighted the offensive line as the big focus this off season.
"We have got a lot of newcomers on this team," Razzano said. " A lot of people from J-V. We lost a lot of guys from last year. I see improvement every day. Our line is the biggest thing. We have a lot of new linemen and they are working hard everyday. I see improvement every day."
The Eddies had no problem moving through the Wolverine conference in 2013 outscoring their opponents 390-101 on their way to a perfect 9-0 record. But that kind of success brings envy. Other teams in their conference will certainly have Edwardsburg circled on their schedule.
"I don't think we have a target on our back," Coach Bartz said. "We kind of take it as a confidence builder for us. I don't take it as a target I take it as a sign of respect."
The Eddies will begin their season at Three Rivers on August 28th.
