The old adage is "records can be thrown out the window" in a rivalry game.
Never did that ring true more than Friday night as undefeated Lakeshore battled 3-3 arch rival St. Joe in the War by the Shore.
Lakeshore's Mike Adams scored with 1:19 left in the game and St. Joe failed to score on 4th and goal in the final 30 seconds as the Lancers won a thriller 28-24 to give coach Denny Dock his 250th career win.
Dock, in his 25th at Lakeshore, was elated after the game. After being drenched with gatorade, the Lancers coach put on a "Dock 250" t-shirt as he spoke with NewsCenter 16 about the remarkable victory. To get the 250th over St. Joe was just something so fitting, Dock explained with the biggest of smiles.
St. Joe jumped out to a 14-0 lead before Lakeshore made its comeback in the 3rd quarter. The lead went back and forth until the final 30 seconds with a St. Joe touchdown attempt just hit the ground for a turnover on downs.
The loss is devastating for the Bears who drop to 3-4. St. Joe must win its final two games and receive help to make the post-season.
