Notre Dame wide receiver DaVaris Daniels will not be in school for the spring semester, WNDU has confirmed.
"Small bump. Not entering the draft. Can't wait to get back with my brothers this summer!" Daniels tweeted after the news came out Thursday afternoon.
Daniels also gave a more detailed statement to ESPN.
"I understand that attending the University of Notre Dame is a privilege and with that comes a certain level of academic responsibility," Daniels said in a statement to ESPN. "Therefore, I will not be attending Notre Dame in the Spring semester but fully expect to re-enroll in the Summer semester to earn my degree and continue playing football for the Irish!"
Daniels was 2nd on the Irish in receiving in 2013, behind departing captain TJ Jones. Daniels was considered the go to option for 2014.
It's unclear how missing the spring semester may or may not affect Daniels' status to play for the Irish in 2014.
Missing spring practice will also cause Daniels the ability re-connect on the field with quarterback Everett Golson, who is returning to Notre Dame after missing the fall semester due to an academic issue of his own.
