Cooley leads Irish in exhibition win

Jack Cooley scored 21 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and had five steals to lead the Irish men's basketball team to a 111-52 win over Quincy in Notre Dame's exhibition debut Monday night at Purcell Pavilion.

Cooley is one of five returning starters for Mike Brey's 22nd ranked Irish.

Jerian Grant scored 19 points and dished out eight assists while Eric Atkins scored 17 points and had 13 assists.

Notre Dame also got solid contributions off the bench from two new rotation players. Michigan State transfer Garrick Sherman gives the Irish size in the paint. He had 12 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Carmon Biedscheid added 12 as well.

Notre Dame plays its final exhibition game Friday night at 9pm at Purcell Pavilion against Cardinal Stritch. The Irish open up the regular season on November 10th against Evansville.
