The Sectional Semifinal matchup Friday night between Central and Adams in 5A is a fitting one.
Both teams are having fabulous seasons after having many years of frustration. In many ways, they are the two best stories in all of Northern Indiana.
Both sides respect what the other has done and it makes for a fun matchup with a spot in the 5A Sectional Finals on the line Friday night at 7pm at Clay Field. That's why it's our Martin's Spotlight Game of the Week.
For Central, it's been a culture change.
Levon Johnson took over the program in 2010. The Blazers won just one game in his first season after winning four in the previous two years combined.
"Tough year-- two years, three years ago," Johnson says. "Their ability to persevere through that, maintain a positive attitude and get to this point is exciting. But the best thing about this group is that their not satisfied with that."
The Blazers won four games in 2011 and are 6-4 so far this season.
"The idea is you gotta expect to win," Johnson continues. "You come in three years ago and the feeling was 'you hope to win.' Then last year, it was 'you think you can win.' Now I feel like these guys do expect to win every time they step on the field."
The Adams-Central winner will face either Penn or Carroll in the 5A Sectional Finals.
