Brother of Notre Dame running back coach dies at 39


Aaron Alford, 39, died of an apparent heart attack Monday morning. Aaron is the brother of Tony Alford a Notre Dame running back and wide receivers coach. Both were graduates of Colorado State.

Aaron was an assistant football coach and athletic director at Park City High School in Utah. He also spent several years as a college coach working for Western Illinois, Kent State, Wyoming, Akron and Utah.

Along with his work at the high school Alford was also the executive director of New Beginnings Behavioral Treatment Agency. A program designed to help disadvantaged youth.

Tony Alford has been excused from camp and his return to the team is uncertain at this time.
