Brian Kelly responds to Steve Spurrier's comments on Notre Dame

Earlier this week South Carolina head football coach Steve Spurrier went off on a tangent aimed at Notre Dame during his SEC media day presser. Coach Spurrier said that the Irish football team should be forced to join the ACC conference like everyone else. He added that all of the coaches in the SEC voted unanimously that the NCAA should require Notre Dame to do so.

Irish coach Brian Kelly was a guest on the ESPN radio show "SVP and Russillo" where he was asked about Spurrier's comments. Kelly responded by saying "There are a lot of people who give us advice on a day to day basis so Steve is going to have to take a number..." He added that he understood where Spurrier was coming from but that he didn't feel the Irish football team was out of place remaining independent. Kelly also stated that he didn't feel that they wielded any more power than any other team that is in a conference.
