On Tuesday, the Penn baseball team captured its 16th sectional championship, beating arch rival Mishawaka.

The Kingsmen are riding the bat of star Max Andresen.

However, the Miami of Ohio bound catcher is in search of much more than a sectional title.

As valedictorian of his graduating class, there is no one smarter at Penn than Max Andresen. There also is no better baseball player.

Andresen is the total package.

Penn baseball coach Greg Dikos says, “Valedictorian of our class. Kids look up to that…He's an excellent athlete. Kids look up to that."

However, Andresen has his sights set a lot higher than a sectional title.

He says, "You grow up playing baseball at Harris. You want to be a Kingsman. You want to play for Coach Dikos. You want to win a state championship."

By no surprise, he will play at the Division I level next year at Miami of Ohio, but showing his true leader attitude, college baseball is far from his mind.

"I'm still a Kingsman for now, and I will be for at least a couple of weeks, and I always will be. I'm looking forward to that, but right now I'm worried about winning a state championship…I guarantee you this team has worked hard as anyone in the state, and it’s paying off, and hopefully, it will take us all the way to Victory Field and June 18th."

Before Penn can even think about playing for a state title, they must first get through regionals.

On Saturday in LaPorte, the Kingsmen face Crown Point in the semifinals in the morning. If they win, they go against either Elkhart Central or Lake Central in the regional finals.
