Painter threw for 360 yards and had 3 touchdowns in the game.
He now has 13 TDs and 0 interceptions for the season.
Kory Sheets scored two touchdowns and rushed for 144 yards in the win.
Purdue is 3-0 on the season.
IU is now 3-0 as well following a 41-24 win over Akron.
Down 17-10, IU QB Kellen Lewis threw a screen pass to Ray Fisher and Fisher took it to the house for 24 yards to the tie game at 17 at the half.
It was all IU from there as they outscored Akron 24-7 in the 2nd half.
Lewis led the Hoosiers in passing AND rushing. The QB had 199 yards on the ground and two rushing touchdowns.
There will be unbeaten team in Notre Dame Stadium when Michigan State faces the Irish next Saturday.

Michigan State took a 14-7 lead in the 2nd quarter when Travis Key intercepted a pass and returned it 31 yards for a touchdown.
