A Notre Dame freshman hockey player who was a first-round draft pick by the Anaheim Ducks last year has been arrested on misdemeanor charges of underage drinking and two counts of resisting law enforcement.
Nineteen-year-old Kyle Palmieri of Montvale, N.J., was released on $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court May 14. Maximum sentences are a year in jail for each resisting count and 60 days for underage drinking.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Palmieri ran after an officer pulled over a pickup truck with two men standing in the back about 1:15 a.m. Sunday. The officer said when he caught Palmieri, Palmieri again attempted to flee.
There was no telephone listing for Palmieri. It was not known if he had a lawyer.
Notre Dame spokesman Tim Connor said the school had no comment.
