Most people think getting fitted for a club is reserved for the expert golfer who is looking to take his game to even greater heights.
But that isn't neccesarily the case.
A custom fit club designed specifically to your likes and needs can do wonders for the novice golfer as well and the cost is not bad either!
On this week's edition of Playing for Par, we tried out the the many different possibilities at Swan Lake Resort.
The U.S. Golf Academy and its director, Pat Bayley, have more than 68,000 combinations of shafts and club heads to choose from----and that's for a driver alone!
"A well-fitted driver helps everybody," Bayley says. "No two people are alike, whether its their size and strength or their abilitiy on the golf course."
The first custom made club we used didn't work out too well for me. I popped up the drive. The shaft was just too heavy and not really comfortable to use.
The second club was perfect. The shaft was extremely light. In fact, it felt like I wasn't holding anything in my hands, yet I was still able to have one of my best drives.
The fitted driver certainly felt much better than the one currently in my bag! And it was working a whole lot better.
The process to get the custom fit ready is really quick too. Once the decision is made to go with a particular club, the order is put in that day. The next day it is shipped out and within 48 hours of getting fitted, the club is in your bag and ready for use.
The price is reasonable too. A fitting at Swan Lake Resort costs $99 but the price is waved if you have Bayley and his crew put the order in for you.
The total price will then cost you between $250-$300, which is about the price that you would currently pay for a reasonable driver.
Plus, its custom fit for your likes and needs.
