New Irish football coach Brian Kelly said there was definitely a 'wow factor' about running onto the field at Notre Dame Stadium. It was a banner day for Kelly on Saturday as he made his Stadium debut with the Blue-Gold Game.
After the game---as he walked off the field towards the tunnel--he shared a special moment with his daughter Grace.
"Hi dad," Grace said nicely hoping to catch her dad's attention but wary in case he was still in football coach mode.
Kelly's face quickly beamed up, so excited to his daughter.
"Hey sweetheart, how are ya?" Kelly said as he hugged her. "Great to see you."
"Good game," Grace told her dad.
"Isn't this awesome?" He replied.
Then came the real big question between the two. "Do you like the real grass or the fake grass," Dad asked.
The real grass works for Grace.
Notre Dame used a running clock in the 2nd half. Kelly credited his daughter with the idea.
"You said get them out of here before we got too much rain right?" Kelly reminded her.
Grace just laughed.
Looking up to the media documenting the whole walk as if the Kellys were the Obamas, coach proclaimed, "My daughter influences the way we call games."
And with that, dad and daughter walked up the tunnel together after their first experience at Notre Dame Stadium.
