Dream season ends in Senior League Softball World Series Final

A fairy-tale run ended for South Bend District XI in the championship game of the Senior League Softball World Series on Saturday in Delaware.

The South Bend All-Stars, representing the Central region, lost 8-0 to the the Southwest Region's San Antonio team 8-0 in the tournament finals.

Southwest exploded for 3 runs in the 4th, 3 in the 5th, and 2 in the 6th to easily beat South Bend.

South Bend's Sam DeFord and Blanca Idar [Southwest], the starting pitchers, each had no hitters until the 3rd inning.

In the 3rd, South Bend's Santana Bozman singled and Beth Cossey walked to start the inning. But San Antonio was able to get out of the jam.

In the top of the 4th, Jackie Gonzalez produced the game's first run with an RBI single. Amanda Delgado followed with a 2-RBI double to give San Antonio a 3-0 lead.

Southwest's Blanca Idar got the win striking out 6 and scattering 4 hits. Sam DeFord took the loss.
