Jeff Samardzija was only 3-8 for the Daytona Cubs but the former Irish All-America was promoted on Thursday to Double-A, Tennessee.
On Wednesday, Shark pitched his best game of the season allowing only three hits but lost, 2-0.
Cubs officials said that Samardzija's improvement over the course of the season was the main reason for his elevation.
