The Cubs are in the race, the Sox aren't and the Tigers may be the best in baseball. That's the situation at the All-Star break, 2007.

Lou's crew is only 4 1/2 games out of first in the NL Central and should be able to hang with the Brewers for the remainder of the season. The Cubs have played well and despite losing two of three to Pittsburgh before the break are in good shape.

The White Sox big positive for the first half came on Sunday as Mark Buehrle re-signed with the team. Chicago is struggling to find .500 and the Tigers and Indians appear to be far out of sight.

Speaking of Detroit, the Tigers taking two of three from the Tribe and then sweeping the BoSox has some thinking the Tigers are playing as well as any team. The good news for Detroit is that Joel Zumaya should return in the second half and re-establish the bullpen. If that happens, Cleveland had better play very, very well to stay close to the Tigers
