Harangody's 37 leads Irish to much-needed win

Luke Harangody scored 37 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Notre Dame snapped a 2-game losing streak to beat Cincinnati 83-65 Thursday night at Purcell Pavilion.

The Irish avenged a loss to the Bearcats in the final seconds last month that led to Notre Dame to dropping four of its last five games.

Now the Irish are 16-7 and back to .500 in the Big East and will host South Florida on Sunday.

Tim Abromaitis scored 22 points for the Irish which led from start to finish, holding a 13-point halftime lead on a Harangody bucket at the buzzer to close out the half.

The victory came on the night when the Irish dedicated the newly renovated Purcell Pavilion. The man who made it possible--Phil Purcell---was honored at halftime with a special plaque courtesy of Irish Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick.

New Irish football coach Brian Kelly was also in attendance to see Notre Dame take on his former school.
