Black lights, the circus and miniature golf -- it sounds like a winning combination.
Strikes & Spares in Mishawaka is hoping so.
It opened its "Magic Circus" Black Light Mini Golf Course on Friday.
Many experienced the course for the first time Tuesday night and had a blast.
"It's really a little bit different," 8-year-old Jay Roy said. "It looks very strange to me. It looks like the circus, but it's not the circus. It's just like a big Circus of Golf."
Jay was there with his mom, dad, and sister. The whole family enjoyed the uniqueness the Black Light setup provides.
The course is nine holes and two rounds costs $7.
Before 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, two rounds costs $5.
They also have a combo deal, with two rounds of golf and an hour of bowling costing $10 per person.
There were many families out on the indoor course.
Kids stared at the black lights in amazement, while parents and grandparents were having fun too.
Sisters got along and poked fun at each other when they missed shots.
"I really like black lights and the circus," said 16-year-old Amber Singleton, who played with her 12-year-old sister Tyler. "I saw a picture and it looked really cool. I really like their setup. It was fun."
Ben Cashman and his grandson play miniature golf a lot and this course just adds to their options.
"We really enjoyed it," Cashman said. "It's a unique concept and it's nice to be able to do something inside where it's air conditioned this time of year. I hope it's successful."
Ben even scored a hole in one. His grandson, Zachary, had a good time too.
"I enjoyed how it was dark in here and how it was different than what I am used," Zachary said. "It was a little easier than Putt Putt is. It was fun."
Some kids, probably too young to even play, were still having fun running around and staring at all the circus-like pictures and statues.
