As a football coach, Terry Hoeppner lived for Saturdays. So it only made sense that his family chose a Saturday to honor his legacy.
Thousands came out to a memorial service for the late IU football coach in Bloomington on Saturday.
Hoeppner died this week from complications of a brain tumor. He was 59.
Past and present players joined many other mourners at today's "Celebration of Life."
The mourners lined the way as Hoeppner made one final trip to Memorial Stadium.
Hoeppner coached the Hoosiers for just two seasons, but had a huge impact on the lives of those within the program.
Prior to coaching IU, he was the head coach at Miami of Ohio for six seasons.
