Golden Tate says if Charlie Weis was returning as the Notre Dame football coach, there was a very good chance he would too.
"I wouldn't guarantee it," Golden said Monday after learning Weis was fired as the Irish football coach. "But I definitely would have been leaning towards coming back."
Tate--the school's all-time single season leader in receptions and receiving yards--isn't sure what he will do now---whether he will return for his final year or enter the NFL draft.
There are plenty of factors in play.
"At this point, what Jimmy does is very important on my decision and the coaching change is very important on my decision."
Tate says it's not just that Weis is gone that will factor in terms of the coaching change, but who is coming in.
"It will make a big difference," Tate explained. "I don't know which way it would make a difference---it could make a good difference, a bad difference. I just don't know."
Tate and his family will meet with Weis on Friday to discuss his future.
Clausen and his family will meet with Weis on Saturday.
