Irish rally to beat UConn, qualify for post-season

Ryan Smith's single with none out in the 9th scored Ross Brezovsky to give Notre Dame a 5-4 win over UConn and put the Irish in the Big East post-season tourney.
David Phelps pitched one of his gutsiest games of the season and took a 4-3 lead into the ninth but four walks tied the game and left Phelps with a no-decision.
The Irish loaded the bases and Smith ended it on the first pitch he saw. The Big East tourney will begin next week in Brooklyn, NY
