Irish Softball Advances to Big East Championship

DePaul did not lose a Big East game heading into Friday. They were a perfect 21-0 in league and had won 41 games overall.

But Notre dame ended that pretty quickly. Walk-on freshman Christine Lux led the Irish to a 5-run 3rd inning with a 3-run homerun as Notre Dame defeated DePaul 8-2 at the Belleville Sports Complex.

The 4th-seeded Irish will face 3rd seeded Louisville for the Big East Championship Saturday at 5:30, also at Belleville.

Brittney Bargar pitched 5 2/3 perfect innings for the Irish before giving up her first base runner. Barger pitched a complete-game, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 en route to her 22nd victory of the season.
