Go figure. The Notre Dame women's soccer team will face Florida State in the NCAA Tournament.
It's the 4th straight year the two soccer powerhouses have met in the post-season. Last year, Notre Dame won 2-0 at Alumni Field in the quarterfinals.
This year's battle is again in the quarterfinals---but this time at Florida State Friday afternoon.
"I think someone at the NCAA really has something out for us," Irish women's soccer coach Randy Waldrum joked. "Both teams know each other really well and we've got a lot of respect for them. They've got a great program down there and we know it's going to be a difficult game."
Notre Dame is no stranger to still playing this time of year. Last year the Irish made it to the national championship game.
"It's certainly a help that we've got a history and you've got players that have come before you that know how to execute at this time of the year, that know how to prepare for the playoffs, it's always a plus, and I think that's the one good thing about this program is the last 11 years that I've been here, we've had players that have known how to maneuver their way through the NCAA tournament and I think that is passed down year to year to each of the classes that come in and that's a big help."
