While its been a tough couple of weeks (to say the least) to be a part of the Notre Dame football program, it doesn't mean the team won't stop to enjoy Thanksgiving on Thursday.

"I have a big feast for them," embattled head coach Charlie Weis said. "I think last year we went through like 30 turkeys. There's no shortage of eaters around here."

Weis said the team will workout until about 12-12:30. Then all the guys who aren't traveling, have the option to go home for the Holiday. Those who are traveling, will be a part of the big 'feast' as Weis called it.

"They go right over and they pig out right off the bat, and they enjoy doing it. There's some massive amounts of food that are being consumed.

After that, the team will have a chance to sit back and enjoy the rest of the day.

"I'm sure they'll do what everyone else does then, go lay around and watch football games and sleep on the couch," Weis said. "Then we'll get up on Friday morning and we'll come in and do what we do on Friday, we'll get on a plane and head west."

Weis could be coaching in his last game as the Irish head coach on Saturday. He was asked on Tuesday what he's thankful for this Thanksgiving.

"I'm looking forward to hanging out with Maura, Charlie, Hannah and a few selected friends and just being able to sit around with the Weis family on a holiday," he explained.

"How many times in my life have I missed holidays because of football? Too many. There's been too many times where you just missed holidays. You miss a good portion of Christmas, you miss a good portion of Thanksgiving, you miss Valentine's Day, which is almost sacrilegious. But you miss big portions of holidays."

"The way our schedule is set up, it'll give me an opportunity to get home on Thursday afternoon and just be able to hang out with the family for the day, and you want to know something, that's nothing better than that. Nothing. Nothing."

Notre Dame leaves for California on Friday. They will face Stanford Saturday night at 8pm.
