Entering Sunday, the Cubs had not won a single game when trailing after 8 innings and had yet to win an extra inning affair.
Both of those streaks ended at Wrigley Field today as the Cubs defeated the Nationals 4-3 to complete a series sweep.
Ryan Theriot drove in the game-tying run in the 9th to force extras and in the 10th Daryle Ward won it with a deep single to left field to bring in the winning run.
Ryan Dempster picked up the win. He is 1-1 on the year.
The Cubs are now 15-14 on the year.
