Washington Reflects Back on Years at ND

For nearly half her life, Coquese Washington has called Notre Dame home. Now, she will start the next phase of her life as the head coach of the Penn State women's basketball team.

Washington talked today about taking the job at PSU and reflected back on her years at Notre Dame. She was a standout player from 1989-1993 even received her law degree from ND, and for the past eight years has been an assistant for Muffet McGraw.

That relationship with McGraw is what Washington says she will miss the most. Coquese considers McGraw like a second mother and will wish her times with the long-time Irish head coach greatly.

Washington did say she has no intentions of scheduling a game against her former team, however. She said the ties are too strong and the game would be just too difficult for all involved. She compared it to taking your cousin to the prom.
