The North side had one exciting game to close its 3-game series between the Cubs and Cardinals on Sunday. Albert Pujols hit a 3-run home run in the 10th inning to give St. Louis the 12-9 win.
The Cardinals took a 7-4 lead when Scott Rolen hit a solo home run in the 5th. The Cubs then tied it up on a home run of its own, sending the game into the 9th tied at 7.
That's when Rolen came through again with a 2-RBI triple to give the Cards a 9-7 lead. Rolen was 5-for-5 and was just a double away from the cycle.
The Cubbies came right back in the bottom half. With 2 outs, Mark DeRosa hit a pop-up to shallow right field and the winds at Wrigley helped out big-time. None of the Cards could make the catch as the ball dropped in, allowing two runs to score and tying the game at 9.
That's when the game went to extra innings. And that's when Pujols came through. Despite hitting .229 this season, Pujols showed why he's one of the games most dangerous players with the HR.
