ND Baseball Wins Again

The start of 2007 for the Notre Dame baseball team was somewhat mediocre.

But the Irish have picked things up big-time in the last two weeks, notching their 7th win in 8 games tonight in a 5-2 win over West Virginia.

David Phelps earned his 6th win of the season, pitching a complete-game 7-hitter. He gave up just 2 runs while striking out 6. On the season, Phelps has an amazing 1.42 ERA.

Notre Dame had 7 hits, all from different players. Captains Danny Dressman and Mike Dury produced the game-winning run with back-to-back doubles.

The Irish are now 20-17 on the year and 5-7 in the Big East. Game 2 of the 3 game series is scheduled for 3PM at Frank Eck Stadium on Saturday.
