The Clay Colonials may be young, but they are certainly proving they will be a tough team to beat in the Northern Indiana Conference this season.
Clay has just 9 upperclassmen (5 seniors, 4 juniors) but jumped out to a 5-1 lead against previous unbeaten Marian tonight en route to a 5-3 NIC win. Clay is now 5-1 in the NIC and 6-3 overall. Marian falls to 7-2 overall and 4-1 in the NIC.
Sophomore pitcher Cody Schell was excellent on the mound for the Colonials in the win. Senior CF John Baxmeyer made a fantastic catch in the 5th to prevent a Marian rally.
